We packed 28 plastic shoe boxes to send to Operation Christmas Child! As our class service project, we pray that our participation in this awesome ministry will bring both the joy and message of Jesus Christ to child around the world!

Today was a "TOAD-ally" awesome day for the Harris family, and I want to share a few pictures with you! Whitton Robert Harris was born at 3:28 p.m.. He weighs 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and he is 20 inches long. Everybody is doing great! Whitt had many visitors tonight, but he told me that he can't wait until he gets a chance to meet his ACS family!

The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere
As we began to learn about the American Revolution in social studies, and we started our new historical fiction novel The Keeping Room, we took some time to learn about Paul Revere. We studied Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's famous poem and checked out Grant Wood's artistic interpretation. Here are some pictures of us using oil pastels to recreate Wood's famous painting.
Mystery Readers!
Here are some pictures of our latest Mystery Readers, Mrs. Charlotte, Mrs. Janice (She brought REAL fossils from her digs!), Mrs. Miriam (Thanks for the baby pumpkins!) and Mr. Andy:

Our first Mystery Reader!
Thanks Mrs. Long for coming to be our first Mystery Reader of the year! We loved the story, and the game was lots of fun, too!
First People of Mississippi
Check out these cool murals we made about the first people to live in Mississippi. We also told about their traditions using petroglyphs!
Model Cells!
We had lots of fun last week making model cells from clay. Do you remember how an animal cell and plant cell are different? Hint: Plant cells have 2 things animal cells don't have.

Learning about Mississippi!
Oh what messy fun! We learned about Mississippi's landforms by making salt dough maps in our pizza boxes. We also learned about Mississippi's symbols (magnolia, mockingbird, the flag, state seal) and will be adding those to our pizza boxes as well.

Back-to-School!
Well 4th graders, I think we are off to a great start! We've been working hard learning procedures, rules, and getting organized. Now it's time to let the learning begin! Just a few reminders:
- You need an art smock and your dough for Friday's project!
- Back-to-School Night is tomorrow starting at 6:30. Remind your parents to bring your TOAD folder with them!
- Start studying those multiplication facts EVERY night! It should be an easy review from 3rd grade. Timed 1 minute test Friday!
- Take a few minutes to explore this website. There is lots of cool information here for you!
