We Made a Difference!

Our class ended up packing 37 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child!  We filled them with candy, bath supplies, toys, art supplies and more.  Each also included a class picture and Christmas card with a special message from us.  After students packed a box, they stopped and prayed for the child who would be receiving it.  There are going to be many happy children somewhere in the world this Christmas season, thanks in part, to the generosity of our class.  Way to go guys!

My, Oh My, What a Wonderful Day!

We had SO much fun on our field trip to Paints Galore and Mozart's The Magic Flute in Starkville.  Lunch at Oby's was pretty yummy, too!

The Sense of Touch-Science Experiment

Check out this cool experiment from Chapter 4 Science!

We learned that our body must be able to notice things that touch it in order to protect it.  Using toothpick spaced 1 cm, 2cm, 5cm, and 8cm apart, we tested our sense of touch on the palm, lower arm, and upper arm.  So, which one one has the best sense of touch?  The palm of your hand!  Do you know why?

Field Trip Tomorrow!

A few reminders about our field trip tomorrow:
  • If you are leaving from the school, be here at 7:25.  We will pull out at 7:30 sharp!
  • If you are meeting at Paints Galore, be there at 8:00, so you won't be counted absent.
  • Bring a jacket for the auditorium.  One that ties around your waist would be best.
  • Eat a big breakfast, we won't be stopping for our usual morning snack.

Operation Christmas Child!

Website and See the Video!
Send Items from Now Until November 18th!
As our class service project this year, we voted to support Operation Christmas Child!  We watched an exciting DVD Friday that told us all about it, and we can’t wait to get started.  We will be making both boy and girl boxes, all for children in the 5-9 age range, which is closest to our ages.
Each child is asked to contribute in some way.  I’m not setting a minimum donation requirement, but I am asking children to give generously.   In fact, I would love to see each child spend a little of his/her own money (allowance, birthday money, chore money, etc.) on something for the boxes.  In this way, they will feel much more connected to the project, and they will get to experience the joy that comes from truly giving of yourself to others.
Brochures went home in Brown Envelopes.  They included more information, and clearly defined what is and is not allowed to go in the boxes.  As I’ve told the children, both the actual plastic shoeboxes and the $7 shipping fee per box have already been donated by a class sponsor.  In fact, the class sponsor has agreed to pay for as many boxes as we can possibly fill, so there is no limit!
Thank you so much for your support of us and our mission!
