African Costumes Friday!

Don't forget, you'll need either a white pillowcase or a large white t-shirt for Friday!  We'll be designing African costumes for Bob Damm's African week.  Also, remember to bring any Mardi Gras beads you have.

See You at Sunday Mass!

Don't forget, come to either 8:00 or 10:30 Mass Sunday wearing your uniform, and you can receive a "No Uniform Pass"!!!  Just stop by the Scrip table after the service to pick yours up.  Remember, not boots with uniforms.  We must dress just like we are coming to school.  See you there!!!!

Coral Reef Diorama Projects

What do you get when you mix some glitter, a ruler, and a shoebox?  A scaled coral reef diorama!  We've had to put our reading skills, math skills, and science skills to work on this project.  We've read about animals that live near coral reefs, and we've designed them using a 2:1 scale.  They will be on display in the hallways soon...they are looking awesome!

A few updates....

Our last online poll ended, and the winner of the Favorite Mystery Reader contest was... Sara's dad!  I think the eggrolls won us over!  There is a new question posted, check it out!

I also forgot to remind you in class that "I Know That" has some great games that will help you study adjectives and adverbs for Friday's English test.  If you are looking for a fun way to study, try it!

Mississippi Light Projects

We've been reviewing adjectives in English this week, and we wanted to practice USING them to make our writing more descriptive.  Using individual art prints from artist Greg Cartmell's Mississippi Light book, we wrote adjective-rich critiques of his prints.  Then, using acrylic paints, we recreated the prints.  They were so incredible!

Stringing Up the New Year!

Things got messy last week as we thought of our "New Year's Word"!  We thought of a word we would keep close to our hearts in 2011 that would help us live more like God wants us be.  "Fulfill", "Pray", "Care", and "Give" were just a few of the words on our hearts.

Another Snow Day?!

Who could have imagined 2 snow days????  Well, as you can imagine, our plans for the week have changed.   Since this week will be a 3 day week, and next week will be a 3 day week, we will just spread our weekly plans out over these 2 weeks.
  •  All of our scheduled tests will have to be pushed back.  We will talk about that Wednesday morning.
  •  I'm also going to be a little flexible of RRJs this week.  They are still due, but I will take them after your due date if needed.
  • I would still like Katie Kazzoo bookclub projects to be ready Wednesday.  They were due today, but you guys have had the assignment for about 4 weeks now.  Let's stay on track with that.
  • Mrs. Allgood is going to take you guys first things Wednesday morning (8:30) to practice for Thursday's mass.  We will have to see how much time we have left after that.
It's going to be a little weird, a little crazy, but we'll figure it out!  Enjoy the extra day off!

Reminders for Friday

Don't forget to wear or bring clothes that can get messy tomorrow!  We will be pulling out acrylic paints to do our Mississippi Lights interpretive paintings.

Also, remember tomorrow is the last day for our boys vs. girls similes and metaphors contest!  Keep your eyes opened for them as you are reading tonight!
